The Causes of Disunity

When Singaporeans say Malaysia is run by incompetent politicians, the popular assumption is that incompetence resides alone in Barisan Nasional. But here is Teresa Kok, and this is the same line of thought one reads from the Messiah down, Anwar Ibrahim – “we are divided by skin colour and religion”. This is true of course, other than being trite. Malaysia is also divided by

  • gender
  • age
  • parents (think Chen Yimin)
  • language
  • politics
  • education
  • occupation
  • residence
  • pork
  • dogs
  • chain link fences
  • tudung
  • turbans
  • goatees
  • law (think Article 153)
  • judges
  • police
  • immigration
  • MACC
  • Umno
  • Ridhuan Tee
  • Fatimah
  • Anwar
  • Guan Eng
  • Teresa Kok

Malaysia has a lot to be divided by. This being the case, why don’t Teresa and her boss Guan Eng contribute toward unity by throwing themselves into the Malacca Straits? That’ll be a start. The Ah Hoes, KTemocs and Joshies of Malaysiakini and Nut Graph and Malaysia Today can join them the following week. Fewer by a thousand people, Jacqueline the Nuts and Hannah the Yeohs should also join them. That’ll be ten thousand gone, after that a million, then two million. Five million causes fewer, the children of Guan Eng and Anwar and Hadi Awang should join their forefathers in the straits. Another 5 million gone, it takes total to ten. Twenty million people fewer, Malaysia is closest than it ever was in its 50 year history to the grand unity of One. Imagine: 20 million fewer causes of disunity?

What’s Lim Kit Siang waiting for? And Haris? The Messiah to go first?

The point in all this? Incompetence populate Malaysia and it’s true: useless people everywhere, literally.

Didn’t Satre say, Hell is other people.
